About the site author
I spend a lot of time studying areas that interest me and as I find myself gaining the enquiries and esteem of those who are new to seeking such knowledge I am more interested in passing on what I feel I have a grasp on.
I can be referred to as BlackCatsy (BlackCatzy) which is more a stage name than a magickal one. It's a combination of Black Cat and a limited edition Ball Jointed Doll by Elfdoll's catsy line. BlackCatsy with an "s" was taken, so I am known as BlackCatzy with a "z."
Black cats and dogs are the first to be euthanized at kill-shelters in America because of their color alone - statistically, no one wants them. Until the day I die there will always be a black cat in my home. When I become a dog owner, it will also be black. I am an avid animal rescuer, we feed homeless cats and when the population becomes overwhelming we take them to the area shelter, which, unfortunately, is a kill-shelter. But where I live, we suffer rigid cold temperatures in the winter and humid summers. There are elemental conditions where we draw the line at leaving the cats homeless.
The elements are all around us all the time. They make up everything. It is such a basic part of witchcraft and yet so overlooked. I believe that becoming familiar with the elements is vital to life in general, not just in witchcraft. Why remain ignorant to it?
Scientifically, every single thing is made up of energy. Including the elements. This fully supports the Big Bang Theory. Every religion or traditional "idea" says the same thing - we are all of the same origin. We are all "sisters & brothers." We are all "God-source." We are all "Universal Energy." Etc.
I am third generation psychic and second generation witch. I've been practicing witchcraft for almost eleven years. I am eclectic in my following. I take and leave from several religions what feels right for my own spirit. I follow Celtic, Druid, Wiccan, and to the dismay of some - forms of Christianity. I grew up both Episcopalian and Druid and attended a Lutheran school; I was groomed with options and an open mind. There is no reason for me to abandon Christian faith completely just because I follow Wicca.
Mom had an official Druid Priest teaching her further when I was a teenager. There isn't a book I've picked up that doesn't defend ancient Druidism. I've crossed examinations of the writings of Cesaer, Pliny the Elder, and Diogenes Laertius, all of which discredit or explain what they were saying based on archeological evidence. The Druids did NOT perform human or animal sacrifices because they followed a belief system of peace. In an examination of Cesaer's writings it is explained that the Druids were exempt from military service, it was "those who were engaged in the perils of battle" who performed human sacrifices. So, if Druids did not participate in battle then how could they have engaged in the perils of it?
I know the path I follow because I'm the one on it. If it's one thing I truly detest - it's being told who I am by strangers based on some book they read and didn't like. If you disagree with my spirituality or the "non-existent path I walk" that's fine. If you don't admire the authors I reference that's also fine. I did not become wiccan as a defense against Christianity. Therefore, I will not take a defensive stance against it. If you disapprove of my path or my teachings you are perfectly free to seek advice, guidance, and study materials elsewhere. That's what makes spirituality so grand - freedom. It's highly personalized. I am not told what to think or believe and in return I do not preach what others should think or believe. You can take from my work and research what you want and leave what you do not. The term is "eclectic" or "open-minded." I only hope that you were able to find something here that you can use on your own path.
